Design Custom Cowboy Boots

Saddle up, but get your dusty, worn and torn pair of boots off. If you're looking for style and a complete sense of sophistication mixed with an overwhelming sense of individuality, spurs and snakeskin are no longer going to cut it; you'll have to go custom on your new pair of cowboy boots. Here's how to design your own pair. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the kind of leather you want your boots to be made out of. While comfort may be the foremost concern on your mind, you might also want to consider how long you're going to have the boots and then rate your own willingness to care for them.

    • 2

Find the most distinguishable feature of your boot. You'll need to decide about inlays, overlays and colors in terms of stitching. Flashy piping, a collar or foxing can make your boots the belle of the ball.

    • 3

Wear a heel that suits what you're doing and what you can get away with. Generally, heels come at about 1 1/2 inches, but women can easily go higher--up to 3 inches, for the more daring ladies.

    • 4

Direct attention accordingly to the most obvious part of the boot: the toe. Popular styles tend to be pointier, but traditional cowboys go for a more rounded toe. Males, not on the ranch, find a box toe suits their need just fine.
