Applying foundation to give yourself a natural, flawless look is not hard to achieve. Once you have found the right color and perfected the application process, you will be on your way to looking beautiful. The process just takes some practice.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the right shade of foundation. It should match your skin tone if you want to create a flawless look. The goal of foundation application is to neutralize any discoloration and imbalance, not to change the tone of your skin.

  2. Step 2

Test the shade by putting a small amount on your chin and lower-jaw area. Blend the foundation into your skin to see if the color is right. If it's too light, then test the next shade darker. If it's too dark, then go down a shade until the color matches.

  3. Step 3

Start with a clean, moisturized face. A clean face will allow the makeup to smooth and blend easier.

  4. Step 4

Apply foundation by dabbing a small amount on your face. Start by applying the foundation in little dots on your forehead, down your nose and on your chin and cheeks. Blend the foundation with a brush, sponge or your fingertips. Make sure it's blended completely to create a natural, flawless look.

  5. Step 5

Look at your application in natural light to make sure the foundation is blended completely. If you need more coverage, apply concealer instead of adding more foundation.

Tips & Warnings
  • To create a more sheer application, mix your foundation with a light SPF moisturizer.
  • Use a sponge for sheer coverage; use fingertips for more coverage.
