Things You'll Need:

  • Dance books and videos.
  1. Step 1

Recognize which form of dance you would want to teach. Would it be Ballroom? Salsa? Tango? You could choose one form of dance or many. Once you know what dance you want to learn and teach, your path to becoming a dance teacher will become clear.

  2. Step 2

Find books and videos based on the dance genre you have chosen. Start teaching yourself all of the steps involved and practice, practice, practice!

  3. Step 3

Take dance lessons and listen to your instructor. Take notes to what you see and hear. Remember that everything you observe and remember will get you one step closer to becoming a dance teacher.

  4. Step 4

Ask a friend or family member to be a student for you. Many people are excited to learn a new skill or dance, so ask them to help you out in the process. Apply your new teaching skills.

  5. Step 5

Apply to dance studios when you feel ready and confident as an instructor. It is important to remember that everything is practice. Every class you instruct in the beginning will be a learning experience for you as well. Be patient with yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Practice as much as possible to become fully familiar with your new dance.

on 7/14/2009 I work as a dance teacher (latin, ballroom) and i can say that is a quite pleasant job for a woman who likes to dance and to communicate with many people of different backgrounds! However you have to practise a lot and never forget to try to develop your own dancing style. The money not that great,is better to become the owner of such a school so you can have profit.i suggest your own dance school either a francised one.
