Step1
Use the Web site of the Connecticut State Department of Education as your primary resource (see the Who Can Help section below) as you work toward your teaching license.
Step2
Complete a bachelor's degree in education at a regionally accredited college or university.
Step3
Take and pass the Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Assessments (PPST).
Step4
Take and pass the Praxis II: Subject Assessment test in the areas you will teach.
Step5
Submit documents that substantiate you have completed these steps.
Step6
Obtain a certificate for teaching if you are an out-of-state applicant. You must document more than 20 months of full-time teaching in the same out-of-state public school and pass the PPST. Or you can present evidence from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to obtain a waiver, pass the Praxis II: Subject Assessment test and complete any other necessary academic work.
