Make MySpace better reflect your personality or mood by adding simple HTML to customize your profile. Create flair, drama, comedy, romance or any feeling you want to convey with a few easy customizations. Follow these steps to find out how you can.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

Add Simple Code to Your Profile

  1. Step 1

Log onto your MySpace account (see Resources below). Click on "Edit Profile" to start adding custom HTML code.

  2. Step 2

Add your custom HTML and CSS code to the "About Me" section. If you do not know basic Web programming, use a profile generator like Thomas' MySpace Editor, which will generate the code for you (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Save All Changes" button, and then check your profile by following the "View My Profile Link." Since you are editing the style of your entire profile, you will not be able to see most of the changes by merely clicking "Preview Profile."

  4. Step 4

Troubleshoot your HTML. Make any changes to the code you placed in the "About Me" section until your profile looks the way you want it to. Be sure to check your profile on Firefox and Internet Explorer as both browsers show custom styles differently. Visit MySpace Help if you need more assistance (see Resources below).

  5. Use Templates to Customize Entire Profile

  6. Step 1

Find a third-party template. Templates change the entire look of your page from a background photo to new fonts. "MySpace Support" offers seasonal and user-rated templates (see Resources below).

  7. Step 2

Copy ("Ctrl + C") layout code provided by the template Web site.

  8. Step 3

Log in to MySpace and "Edit Profile." Paste ("Ctrl + V") the third-party code into your "About Me" section and click the "Save All Changes" button.

  9. Step 4

Customize your template by tweaking the HTML provided. Most layout code will have easy-to-navigate styles if you want to further customize the template.

Tips & Warnings
  • MySpace uses CSS to control many aspects of your profile. To customize most sections and elements of MySpace, you will need to add new CSS styles.
  • If your profile looks wrong in any way, check your HTML code to make sure all tags are closed. If all else fails, simply erase the code you added.
  • Be careful when using third-party generators to customize your profile. Many install spyware on your computer and/or profile. If in doubt, try another tool.
