How to Create a Dutch Auction on eBay

You have more than one of the same item to sell on eBay, but want to avoid the extra work of creating multiple separate listings. Rather than posting the same listing over and over, you can create a “Dutch” auction. Follow these steps to create a Dutch auction on eBay

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer
  1. Step 1

    Count your items to figure out exactly how many items you have to sell.

  2. Step 2

    Fill out a “Sellers” form on eBay. Click on the “Sell” icon at the top of eBay’s home page and go through the steps.

  3. Step 3

    Find the “Quantity” box on the “Provide Pictures and Item Details” page in the “Sellers” form.

  4. Step 4

    Enter the quantity of the item you wish to sell. Any amount greater than one will require a manual entry.

  5. Step 5

    Finish the form and check the results. Find your listing on eBay to make sure that the quantity is correct.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dutch auctions can be complicated and the high bidder may not pay the high bid price. The final price is based on the lowest bid.
  • A Dutch auction cannot be conducted as a private auction.
