Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Laptop computer
- Wireless keyboard
Step1
Check to see if your laptop is compatible with the wireless technology used by your keyboard (Bluetooth, 802.11 or other). Your keyboard could utilize either Bluetooth wireless technology or radio signals. If your laptop doesn’t support wireless technology, you will need to use a wireless receiver.
Step2
Unpack your keyboard and open its battery compartment. A wireless keyboard won’t receive any power from the laptop, making batteries necessary.
Step3
Add new batteries to the compartment. Make sure that the + battery end is inserted into the + niche in the compartment.
Step4
Place the keyboard where it is easy for you to use and least stressful on your fingers.
Step5
Place your wireless receiver appropriately if your laptop doesn’t support wireless technology. The receiver should be kept at least 8 inches away from the laptop or any other object that would cause interference.
Step6
Place the receiver anywhere from 8 inches to 6 feet from the keyboard.
Step7
Insert the driver CD and follow the instructions to install the software for running the keyboard.
Step8
Connect your receiver to the laptop by plugging the keyboard’s USB connector into the USB port of the laptop. If you do not have any free USB port, simply use an external USB hub for more ports.
