How to Create a Pokemon Costume - Ash

Ash, the Pokemon-training star of the Pokemon television show, is a scrappy little guy with a big heart and a relatively easy outfit to pull together. Here's what you need, from top to bottom.

Things You'll Need:

• Baseball Caps/hats
• Belts
• Fingerless Gloves
• Sneakers
• Fabric-marking Pens
• Hair Gel
• Pokémon toys

1. Use the gallery of Jesse pictures available on the Web as a reference - unless you're under 14, in which case he's probably burned onto your retinas already.

2. Procure a baseball cap that's red on the bill and back, and white on the front section. Add a "C" symbol appliqué to the front of the cap - or use a black fabric pen and just draw it on.

3. Style your hair so that it's dark and spiky, poking out to the sides under the cap.

4. Layer a simple blue vest over a black T-shirt and a white, collared, short-sleeved shirt.

5. Cuff the legs of a pair of faded blue jeans, and use a black belt.

6. Put on a pair of white sneakers.

7. Slide a pair of fingerless gloves over your hands. Ash has green ones, but good luck finding those. Any dark pair will do.

8. Buy a Pokemon ball toy, either online or at the local toy store.

9. Yell, "Pikachu - I choose you!" a lot.

Tips & Warnings

• To be fully accessorized, you may want to pick up a large stuffed version of Ash's pal Pikachu.

on 11/22/2005 Ash has a new costume in the "Pokémon Advanced" Series. You can dress as the new Ash by getting a black t-shirt, a blue tanktop and black gloves instead of green. You can find the new hat on pokemoncenter.com. Draw a line about 3-quarters of the way down on the tanktop and put a white half-circle under that. Put the tanktop over the t-shirt when dressing. OPTIONAL: For a realistic costume, sew a white hood onto the tanktop. This usually stays down.

on 11/22/2005 Good luck finding kelly green gloves is right! (Especially when your looking for them.) I just bought some kids white knit gloves and dyed them green, cut all the fingertips off and glued yellow seambinding around the wrist.
