How to Help Your Child Make an Autograph Book

        Purchase some colored paper.

        Decide on the size you want the book to be. Cut the paper to that size using a paper cutter.

        Use at least 30 pages.

        Help your child decorate the pages with borders, stencils, stickers and designs.

        Design a special cover for the book from tagboard. Use paint, markers, crayons or decoupage to personalize the cover.

        Create a back cover as well.

        Have the covers laminated at an office-supply or copy store.

        Ask to have the book bound, using a spiral or flat binding.

        Select some special colored pens to keep with the autograph book.

        Have your child's friends write messages in the book and sign their names.

    • The size of most autograph books is between 5 3/4 and 6 1/4 inches long and 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 inches high.

    • Write the year somewhere in the book.

    • Autograph books were popular in the 19th century. Some libraries have collections of these old autograph books.
