Things You'll Need:
- Socket 7 CPU (computer Processors)
- Motherboards
-
Step 1
Make sure the motherboard voltage matches the CPU's requirements before installation.
-
Step 2
Place the motherboard on a clean, static-free surface, such as its packaging bag.
-
Step 3
Handle the CPU with great care and as little as possible. Inspect gold pins to make sure they are straight.

Align the CPU to the socket.
-
Step 6
Carefully lift the lever next to the socket and pull back until the lever is perpendicular to the motherboard.
-
Step 7
Carefully insert the CPU straight into the socket.
-
Step 8
Make sure CPU pins are all in the socket, and the CPU is less than 1/16 of an inch from the socket on all sides.
-
Step 9
Return the lever to its original position. Expect some resistance, but be careful not to break the lever.
