Difficulty: Moderately challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Make sure the motherboard voltage matches the CPU's requirements before installation.
Step2
Place the motherboard on a clean, static-free surface, such as its packaging bag.
Step3
Handle the CPU with great care and as little as possible. Inspect gold pins to make sure they are straight.
Step4
Locate pin 1 on the CPU and motherboard socket. Look for a dot, notch, arrow or other mark on one corner of each.
Step5
Align the CPU to the socket.
Step6
Carefully lift the lever next to the socket and pull back until the lever is perpendicular to the motherboard.
Step7
Carefully insert the CPU straight into the socket.
Step8
Make sure CPU pins are all in the socket, and the CPU is less than 1/16 of an inch from the socket on all sides.
Step9
Return the lever to its original position. Expect some resistance, but be careful not to break the lever.
Step10
Feel the lever lock into place.
Step11
Attach the heat sink and fan according to manufacturer's instructions, if not already attached.
Step12
Connect the cable from fan to power supply.
