How to Sync Thunderbird Portable Messages

Mozilla Thunderbird Portable is available for free at the Mozilla website.

Mozilla's Thunderbird Portable is an open-source email client that allows you to maintain and use your desktop Thunderbird email information from a USB flash drive. Thunderbird Portable includes an option for automatically synchronizing your email account messages with the application. You can activate this option via the program's Tools menu.

Things You'll Need

• USB flash drive with Thunderbird Portable installed

Instructions

1. Plug the USB flash drive that contains your copy of Thunderbird Portable into your computer.

2. Run the Thunderbird Portable application.

3. Click Tools in the menu bar and select Account Settings.

4. Click the entry for the IMAP email account that you wish to sync with Thunderbird Portable.

5. Click the "Synchronization & Storage" button.

6. Click the check box next to "Keep Messages for This Account on This Computer." Checking this box activates account synchronization.

7. Click "OK" to save your changes to that email account.

8. Change the Synchronization & Storage settings for all additional email accounts that you want to synchronize with Thunderbird Portable.
