How to Clear Multitasking on a Mac thumbnail
Mac computers allow you to work on several things at one time.

The different computer programs that you use on your Mac, such as Safari, Excel or Word, are called applications. If you have several applications open at once, your Mac will allow you to multitask by easily moving from one to the other. The icons of the open applications are on the dock bar and you can simply tab or click from one to the next. To clear multitasking, or the dock bar, you need to close the various applications that are open.

Instructions

    • 1

Hit the ‘Apple’ and ‘tab’ button simultaneously to bring up the dock bar.

    • 2

Hold the ‘Apple’ button down while you tab to the application that you want to close.

    • 3

Land on the particular application and release your hand from the keyboard. That application will now be on your screen.

    • 4

Click the application name on the top toolbar. If you have Word on your screen, then "Word" will appear in the top toolbar next to the blue apple icon. Click on "Word" and choose "Quit Word" from the drop-down menu. The application will close.

    • 5

Repeat the process until all of the applications are closed and your multitasking bar is empty.
