Fuses protect your car's electrical system.

An ATM circuit breaker, or fuse, is used for computer-controlled devices including cars. It is an automatic plug-in switch that protects an electrical circuit from damage caused by an overload or short circuit. The only way to deal with a broken ATM circuit is to replace it. These circuit breakers have small metal blades that plug into you vehicle's fuse box. You don't need great expertise to replace them.

Instructions

    • 1

Find your car's fuse box under the dashboard or under the hood. Instructions in your vehicle's owner's manual can help you find it.

    • 2

Open the fuse box and find the plug-in ATM circuit breaker.

    • 3

Remove the ATM fuse from its socket in the fuse box, using your fingers. If it's too tight, use a pair of pliers to pull it out gently.

    • 4

Fit the new ATM circuit breaker into the socket, making sure it slides in completely, and close the fuse box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure the new fuse is the same size and capacity as the old one, based on the markings on the fuse.
