How to Install Skype on the Axim X50

You must download Skype for the Axim X50 from a third-party website.

Skype has signed an exclusive contract with Verizon Wireless as of publication in October 2011, and no longer offers official downloads for Pocket PC devices such as the Dell Axim X50. However, you can still install Skype on your Axim X50 by downloading an older copy of the application from a third party website. Once you download the installation file, you can install the Skype application in moments from your Axim's web browser.

Instructions

1. Tap the "Start" menu on your Axim X50.

2. Tap "Programs" and then tap "Pocket Internet Explorer" to start the Pocket Internet Explorer web browser.

3. Paste the following URL in the browser's address bar: http://download.cnet.com/Skype-for-Windows-Mobile/3000-2349_4-10319520.html

4. Click the green "Download Now" button to save the application's EXE installation file to your Axim.

5. Tap the EXE file that appears in your downloads window. Doing so initiates the Skype for Windows Mobile installation wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Skype to your Axim X50.
