How to Get Airplay to Work
AirPlay is a feature exclusive to portable Apple devices running iOS 4 for wirelessly transmitting music, photo streaming and videos through a shared wireless network. Airplay also allows you to transmit media from iTunes on your computer to your Apple TV to provide a surround sound experience throughout your home. Airplay is compatible with the iPhone 3GS and newer, iPad and third-generation iPod Touch devices, and computers running Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

Apple iOS Device to Apple TV

Turn on your television and press "Menu" on the Apple TV's remote to wake up the device.

Tap "Settings" on the iOS device's screen and touch "Wi-Fi."

Swipe the Wi-Fi's tab on the screen and tap the name of the network linked to your Apple TV.

Type the password for the network if required to access your network using the iOS device's onscreen keyboard and select "Join."

Tap "iPod" on the iOS device's screen and touch the song you want to play.

Select "AirPlay" in the bottom-right corner of the screen above the volume bar, and tap "Apple TV" to connect the iOS device to your Apple TV.

Click "AirPort" at the top of your desktop menu and click the name of the network connected to the Apple TV.

Enter the network's password to connect to the wireless network. Turn on the television and push "Menu" on the Apple TV's remote to turn on the Apple TV.

Click "iTunes" at the bottom of your computer's desktop and click "AirPlay" in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.

Click "Apple TV" from the pop-up menu to begin transmitting content to the Apple TV.
