How to Remove Wrinkles From Satin Dresses

Wrinkles must be removed carefully from satin dresses.

The luxury of satin makes it a frequent choice for special-occasion dresses. However, it wrinkles and creases very easily. These wrinkles and creases can be hard to remove -- care must be taken -- especially when preserving a special garment. Despite the caution that satin requires, most wrinkles can be removed at home.

Things You'll Need

• Shower
• Iron
• Handkerchief

Instructions

1. Read the care instructions on the garment tag carefully and follow them.

2. Steam the garment by hanging it in a bathroom with the door closed while running a hot shower. You can also use a clothes steamer if you have one.

3. Iron the dress. Use a low setting and place a handkerchief or other cloth between the dress and the iron. Before ironing the satin, be sure to test the fabric by ironing a small portion in an inconspicuous spot.

4. Take the dress to a professional cleaner if these steps do not work.
