How to Make a Dog Biscuit Wreath

Don't forget your dog this holiday season.

Making a Christmas dog biscuit wreath is a great way to keep your dog healthy for the upcoming year. Over 40 percent of dogs in America are currently overweight, mainly due to poor diet and lack of exercise. No more than 15 percent of your dog's diet should consist of treats. By hanging the wreath in an easy to reach place you can quickly grab a healthy biscuit for your dog, instead of giving him table scraps. When making your dog a biscuit wreath you want to look for organic biscuits that are low in sugar, sodium and calories. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Place newspaper down on your working surface and plug in your glue gun. Put all of your supplies on the working surface and have them ready to use. Start putting the dog biscuits around the wreath. Use a twist tie to secure the biscuits onto the pine branches. Twist ties work great because you can replace the biscuits as they're consumed. Space the biscuits evenly so you have room to put the bow on top, and position the bulbs in between the biscuits.

    • 2

Glue the miniature Christmas bulbs around the wreath. Place a drop of glue the size of a dime on the branches where the bulbs will go. Put the bulbs onto the glue and hold them until the glue has dried. This should take about 10 seconds. Position the bulbs around the dog biscuits and the bow.

    • 3

Place a large amount of glue at the top of the wreath to affix your bow. Put the bow on the glue and hold in place for about 30 seconds. The more glue you use, the longer it will take to dry. Hold your wreath up to make sure everything is secured into place.

Hang the wreath up in an area that's easy for you to access. Be sure your dog can't reach the wreath. You don't want your dog to jump up and eat all of the biscuits at once, or the other decorations on the wreath. Give your dog one treat a day during the holiday season. Don't overfeed your dog with treats, as this could make him overweight or cause other health problems. Check the treats occasionally to make sure they don't get stale.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use bulbs to match your other holiday decor.

  • Dental bones, which improve dogs' oral health, can be used on the wreath.

  • Don't glue the biscuits on, this could be toxic to your dog.
