The Auleron virus, which is more commonly known as the Alureon virus, is a virus that downloads and executes files on your computer. It can also affect search engine results and direct your web browser to unwanted websites. You must kill the Alureon process, delete the program and remove registry entries to completely rid yourself of the virus.

Instructions

      Hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then press the ESC key to open the Windows Task Manager.

      Click the "Processes" tab.

      Search the list for the Alureon virus process. The process name consists of a string of 28 random characters separated by dashes.

      Right-click the Alureon process and click "End Process in the menu. Exit Windows Task Manager.

      Open a Windows Explorer browser window and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

      If you run a 64-bit version of Windows, then instead navigate to the C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder.

      Locate the Alureon virus DLL file located in the system folder. The file consists of 28 random characters separated by dashes and has the file extension .DLL.

      Right-click the file and click "Delete" in the menu.

      Hold the Windows logo key and press "R" to open a run command box. Type "regedit" in the box and press Enter to open the Windows Registry editor.

      Navigate to the following registry entry using the menu tree on the left side of the screen:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion@^dmloi.exe

      Right-click the entry and click "Delete" in the menu.

      Locate and delete these additional entries in the Registry:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion@^dmvzx.exe

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion@^_h

      Close the editor and reboot your computer.
