How to Download uTorrent on Ubuntu
You can download two versions of uTorrent to run on Ubuntu: the WebUI version of uTorrent for Linux or the Windows version to use with Wine, which creates limited compatibility for Windows-only programs. The version for Linux is designed to work smoother on Linux, but the Windows version may better meet your needs if you prefer the client version of uTorrent. According the application database for Wine, uTorrent's current version works well with the program.

Browse to the uTorrent.com website and locate the "Free Download" button in the upper right corner of the page.

Click the download button. The uTorrent website detects your operating system and initiates the download automatically. Save the file when prompted. The Linux version of uTorrent comes in a compressed tar.gz file.

Open the file and extract the uTorrent folder to the desired location on your hard drive. Go to the extracted folder and double-click the "utserver" file to launch it. To use uTorrent, navigate to "http://localhost:8080/gui/" in your browser. Log in with "admin" as the username and leave the password blank.

Browse to the uTorrent website. Find the green button on the homepage labeled "Free Download" with a link below it that reads "Other Platforms and Betas." Click this link.

Click the "Download Now" button beside "uTorrent Stable." Save the file when prompted by your browser.

Go to the folder where you saved the executable file. Right-click the folder and select "Properties." Go to the "Permissions" tab and select the check box beside "Allow executing file as program." Click the close button.

Tips & Warnings
Although uTorrent for Windows works adequately in Wine, you may still encounter some errors depending on your version of Ubuntu and Wine.
You must install Wine first before attempting to run uTorrent using Wine. Wine can be downloaded from the Ubuntu Software Center by doing a search for "Wine."
