How to Delete Orders on Amazon

Amazon lets you order various items online and provides ways for buyers to edit an order's payment method, change the shipping options and remove items from orders. If you place an order you no longer want, you can sometimes request a cancellation if Amazon has not started processing the order for shipment. Amazon will send you an email letting you know if it could successfully delete the order, and you have the option to return the order if the cancellation was unsuccessful.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the Amazon website and click the "Your Account" link on the upper right corner of the page. Click the yellow "Your Orders" button in the Orders section of the page, then type your email address and password to log in.

    • 2

Locate the order you want to delete on the list of orders on the page. Click the "Request Cancellation" button located to the right of the order's status. If you don't see this button, Amazon already processed your order, and you cannot cancel it.

    • 3

Click the check box next to your item's name on the "Change Quantities or Delete" screen, then select a reason for canceling your order from the "Reason for Cancellation" drop-down list.

    • 4

Click the "Request Cancellation" button to notify Amazon that you wish to delete your order.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you need to cancel an order placed with an Amazon merchant, you may need to contact the merchant directly to request a cancellation. Navigate to Amazon's "Your Orders" page and click the "View Order Details" link on the left side of your order's information. You will find a button on the page that lets you send the seller a message.
