Setting Up a USB Turntable on a Computer

  1. Hooking It Up

    • To begin setting up a USB turntable, plug the turntable's power cord into an outlet. Connect the turntable to an available USB port on your computer.

    Download Drivers

    • Insert the CD included with the USB turntable, if supplied, and install the drivers on the CD. If there wasn't a CD included with your turntable, go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the drivers manually.

    Install Software

    • Install the software on the CD (if applicable) or download audio editing software from the Internet. Audacity (see Resources) is a free, cross-platform audio editor that enables you to edit the tracks you import from your turntable.

    Sound Check

    • Put a record on the turntable and start it. Ensure that the sound is coming through your computer's speakers.
