How Does Tricep Tendonitis Occur?
-
What is Tricep Tendonitis?
-
Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon, the tissue that connects muscles to bones. Tricep tendonitis is the inflammation of the tendon that connects the triceps muscles (muscles on the back side of the upper arm) to the elbow. This condition causes pain in the back of the upper arm and elbow. It is often called "tennis elbow."
Overuse of Triceps
-
Most common cause of tricep tendonitis is overuse and excessive force. Continuous throwing or hammering can cause tricep tendonitis. Body builders are often afflicted with this muscle condition due to over-repetition with tricep building weight machines and free weights.

Direct Injury to Triceps
-
Tricep tendonitis can also occur from a direct injury to the triceps and triceps tendon. This can come from a direct blow to the tendon or from falling. For example, if you fall forward and catch yourself by your wrists, the shock from the impact can injure the triceps and the triceps tendon.
