Immediate treatment for alcohol addiction is available in nearly every community.

Almost every community today offers immediate treatment options for alcohol addiction. From group therapy to individual support, addicts can find help from several different sources.

  1. Alcoholics Anonymous

    • Alcoholics Anonymous remains a popular option for those seeking treatment for alcohol addiction. This free, self-supporting 12-step program offers therapeutic interaction with other people who have similar addictions in a safe, sober atmosphere that allows participants to share experiences and support with other members. A.A. offers incentives, mentors and other tools to help participants acquire and maintain sobriety.

    Outpatient Treatment

    • Outpatient treatment offers professional help while allowing the patient to live at home. This type of treatment generally focuses more on the individual than the group and may require some weekends to be spent at a treatment facility for intensive treatment sessions. Outpatient treatment is usually fee based, but insurance coverage may help defray the cost.

    Inpatient Treatment

    • Inpatient treatment helps those with severe addictions; it requires the individual to reside full time at a treatment center to detoxify the body and acquire new tools and habits for coping with addiction. Group therapy and individual treatment are typically incorporated in a closely monitored setting. This is often the most expensive option.

    Finding Help

    • You can find any of these treatment options through the Internet, local newspaper classifieds or local yellow pages.
