Internet browser settings can be easily reset

If you have problems with your Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser settings, they can often be easily restored. Resetting the browser software will usually resolve the problems and restore the default settings.

Background

Various computer issues can result in the browser settings becoming incorrect. Third-party software can sometimes incorrectly adjust the settings. You may also end up with problems with Internet Explorer after viruses or malware have been removed from the computer.

Resolution

Microsoft suggests resetting the browser settings. Microsoft makes a tool available online to automatically apply the reset. You can also manually reset Internet Explorer using the button within "Advanced Settings" on the "Internet Options" menu. A video demonstrating the process is available online (see References).

Warning

If you have problems with browser settings on a company computer, it is better to check with the IT department than attempt the fix yourself. There may be configuration differences on a corporate network that you should not try to reset yourself.
