Does Drinking Club Soda Rehydrate the Body
Dehydration is a medical condition where your body does not replenish the proper amount of fluid needed to survive. Drinking the appropriate amount of water per day helps rehydrate the body, but many people do not drink enough water throughout the day. There are many beverages on the market today that help hydrate the body, but club soda is not one.
-
Sodium
-
Club soda contains sodium, which absorbs water. The sodium in club soda counteracts the liquid you intake. It is estimated that one glass of club soda equals a loss of one glass of water. For every club soda you drink, you need two glasses of water to rehydrate your body. Doctors usually recommend the average person drink 8 glasses of water a day, even when they are not thirsty.
Diet
-
If you must have club soda, try diet club sodas, which do not contain sodium. This will reduce or eliminate the effects of dehydration. Still keep in mind that water is the best liquid to rehydrate your body. But, a diet club soda is a better option than a normal club soda.

Alternatives
-
If diet club soda is not available, seltzer is an excellent alternative. Seltzer will rehydrate your body and contains no sodium. Mineral water is another alternative to club soda. You need to watch out for some mineral water brands, as some may contain high calories and sodium.
