Clearing the web search history on a Mac is a simple process.

Although Safari is the default Internet browser on a Mac, some people prefer using an alternate browser for a variety of reasons. Deleting web search history is similar across most browsers and is a relatively simple process.

  1. Safari

    • Click on the "Safari" menu at the top of the screen, select "Preferences" and then click on "Autofill." Go to the "Other Forms" tab and click on the "Edit" button. This will show a list of sites for which autofill has been enabled. Select the search engine from which you want to clear the data, and click "Remove." The web search history will now be clear.

    Mozilla Firefox

    • Go to the "Tools" section on the menu bar. Select "Clear Recent History" from the drop-down menu. In the dialog box, select "Everything" beside the "Time range to clear" option. Click the arrow beside the "Details" menu option and de-select all but the "Form & Search History" box. Click on "Clear now" to apply the changes.

    Google Chrome

    • Click on the tool icon in the top right of the browser window, and select "Options" from the drop-down menu. Click on the "Under the Bonnet" tab, and select "Clear Browsing Data." De-select all of the check boxes except for "Clear saved form data," and select the period using the drop-down menu. Click the "Clear browsing data" button to apply the changes.
