What Is the Difference Between Hornady A-Max & V-Max Bullets?

Hornady A-Max and V-Max are two types of bullets. The A-MAX and V-MAX bullets have a wide variety of features that set them apart from each other.

  1. A-MAX

    • Hornady A-MAX bullets have a ogive design, which allows them to have a very small drag tip. The ogive bullet design increases the stability and accuracy of the bullets when they are fired out of a gun's barrel. A-MAX bullets are designed for competitive shooters, due to their high accuracy.

    V-MAX

    • V-MAX bullets are designed for high precision and performance. V-MAX bullets have a special molybdenum disulfide coating (also known as moly-coating) on the outside of the bullets, giving them the capability to perform more efficiently. The molybdenum disulfide coating eliminates copper fouling inside rifle bores, which allows for a higher fire rate, without having to clean inside the barrel as often. Moly-coating also lubricates the inside of a gun barrel, reducing wear and tear.

    Size

    • A-MAX bullets are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, including 22 caliber, 30 caliber, 50 caliber, 6 mm, 6.5 mm and 7 mm. V-MAX bullets also come in different shapes and sizes, including 17 caliber, 20 caliber, 22 caliber, 25 caliber, 30 caliber, 270 caliber, 6 mm, 6.5 mm and 7 mm.
