Peachtree Accounting Information

Peachtree accounting software is made by Sage Corp.

In a secret deal made in 1980, according to Business to Business Magazine, Peachtree accounting software was developed for use with IBM's personal computer, which hit the market in 1981. Since its inception, Peachtree software has been sold several times and is, in 2010, the product of Sage North America.

  1. History

    • Peachtree accounting software was developed in 1976 by The Computer System Center of Atlanta, Georgia, and was bought by Retail Sciences, Inc., the same year. Following the release of IBM's PC in 1981, Peachtree software was sold to Management Science America (1981), Intelligent Systems (1986), Automatic Data Processing (1994) and The Sage Group, plc (1999).

    Firsts

    • In 1991, Peachtree was the first accounting software developed for the Windows Operating System, and, in 2001, introduced the first Internet-based accounting program, Peachtree Web Accounting. In 1998, Peachtree Office Accounting was released and was the first accounting software to interface with Microsoft software, including Excel and Word.

    Modern Peachtree

    • In 2010, Peachtree accounting software is available in several versions that offer varying types of services including basic accounting, payroll, financial reports, purchasing, bank statement reconciliation and inventory control, to name a few. Peachtree 2010 products and bundle packages range in price from $48 for the basic Peachtree First to more than $5,000 for the Peachtree Quantum version.
