Definition of Computer Based Training
The use of computer-based training, also known as e-learning, has grown steadily over the last 10 years, both in the workplace and in the academic space. The ability to deliver training to hundreds of learners at one time is one of the platform's main draws. And, it is also a more cost-effective training solution when compared to the travel cost involved in sending learners for off-site training.

According to KAlliance.com, one of the first computer-based training programs was developed in the late 1950s and was called the PLATO system from Control Data. It was designed to allow students to bypass sections of a course that they already knew.
