X-Acto Knife Safety

X-Acto knives, precision cutting tools, are manufactured for utility, art and carving purposes. They have very sharp blades that require attentiveness and precaution on the part of the user.

  1. Handling

    • When not in use, or when in motion, be sure to keep the blade covered and capped appropriately. Avoid bumping into your surroundings or throwing the knife for any reason.

    Blade Maintenence

    • An X-Acto knife must be in working condition to adhere to the highest of safety standards. This includes keeping the blade sharp and rust free, and never checking the sharpness by touching.

    Cutting

    • Ensure the blade is secure before cutting. Be vigilant of those around you. Never cut toward yourself and be sure to keep all limbs and fingers free from the cutting path.

    Working

    • Be sure to concentrate and avoid distractions while using the knife. Take breaks as needed to remain focused.

    Gloves

    • Protective cut-resistant gloves should be used at all times when working with an X-Acto, industrial or utility knife.
