Ingredients

The most common ingredient in liquid incense is amyl nitrite. Amyl nitrite is a clear, yellowish liquid having a peculiar ethereal, fruity odor, according to RxList.com.

How is it Used?

It usually comes in a small half ounce bottle. It is inhaled and never drank. Sometimes it is in small glass capsules that are crushed and inhaled. The bottles can be left open to the air to fill a room with the drug.

Effects

The drug causes euphoria, dizziness and a light-headed feeling. It is often used to enhance sexual activity.

Legality

Liquid incense is illegal in the U.S. if sold as a recreational drug. However, it is legal to purchase and sell liquid incense if its intended use is as a room deodorizer.

Dangers

Amyl nitrite can cause involuntary urination and bowel movement, vomiting and nausea. Excessive use can even turn the skin blue. It is also flammable.
