Most people use Internet browsers daily. Mozilla's Firefox, Microsoft's Internet Explorer, Apple's Safari, and Google's Chrome are examples of Internet browsers.

  1. The most typical use of an Internet browser is to load and view websites on the Internet.
  2. Files

  3. Internet browsers can also be used to view local files on a computer. For example, you can open text documents or highly formatted documents such as XML (Extensible Markup Language) or HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) documents.
  4. Communication

  5. Internet browsers are used to communicate in different forms. People can send email (electronic mail) and video chat (e.g. Google Chat) within an Internet browser.
  6. Media

  7. People also use Internet browsers to listen to songs, watch movies or past television episodes, and stream radio live.
  8. Popular Internet Browsers

  9. According to the World Wide Consortium (W3C), Firefox was the most commonly used Internet browser in 2009.
