Effects on the Nervous System

Side effects on the nervous system are most common at the start of treatment. Patients have reported drowsiness, fatigue, ataxia, confusion, weakness, daytime anxiety and memory loss.
Psychiatric Side Effects

Patients taking klonopin may develop sexual promiscuity, depression, and less commonly, psychosis and mania.

Sexual Side Effects

Sexual side effects include anorgasmia (inability to achieve an orgasm), as well as urinary incontinence, ejaculatory problems and erectile dysfunction.
Gastrointestinal Side Effects

Use of Klonopin may cause increased salivary activity, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, increased appetite and anorexia.
Warning

Patients should be cautious when attempting to stop Klonopin. Withdrawal side effects have been reported and include seizures, agitation, restlessness, anxiety, delirium, psychosis, dysphoria, insomnia, tremor, abdominal cramps, vomiting, rash and sweating.
