What Is Hair Weaving?
Hair weaving is the process of adding synthetic or human hair to natural hair. Stylists use the weaving method to add length or volume to natural hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Types
-
There are two types of hair used in hair weaving. Synthetic hair is typically used for twisted and braided styles, while human hair is used for free-flowing styles.
Application Methods
-
According to Dr. Susan Taylor's website brownskin.net, stylists apply hair extensions through either the single-strand or weft method. In the single-strand method, small groups of hair strands are attached to natural hair. Wefts, also known as tracks, are a continuous group of hair strands connected at the top and loose at the bottom.

Attachment Methods
-
Weaves can be braided, bonded or fused to the natural hair. In braided weaves, natural hair is cornrowed and hair extensions are sewn onto cornrows with weaving thread. A bonded weave means that hair extensions are attached to natural hair using a bonding glue. In fusion weaves, hair is attached to natural hair using hot wax.
Care
-
Once applied, braided or bonded weaves will last for up to eight weeks, while fused weaves can last up to three months. You should wash and condition weaved hair with the same regularity as natural hair.
Cost
-
According to carefair.com, cost can range from $150 to more than $3,000 depending upon attachment methods. Fusion weaves are typically the most expensive.
