The Photoshop program can be used to create a large variety of textures. One texture that can be rendered through filters is the leather texture.

    Clouds

  1. Create a new layer by putting the lightest and darkest color found in leather in the foreground and background colors. Run the clouds filter in order to mix these colors together, then set the layer to 75 percent.
  2. Blending Mode

  3. Use lighter browns to create another layer of clouds. Then set the blending mode for the layer to multiply.
  4. Add Noise

  5. Add noise to the background layer by running the "Add Noise" filter under the filter drop-down menu.
  6. Emboss

  7. Run the emboss filter on the background by setting the angle to 45, the height to 1, and the amount to 50. This will create the texture on the leather.
  8. Craquelure

  9. Finally, run the Craquelure filter with 100 crack spacing, 3 crack depth and 10 crack brightness. This creates the cracks often found in leather.
