Flameless candles are battery-operated lights that come in a waxen form that looks just like a candle, except that the "flame" is a small bulb. Some of the candles have lights that flicker instead of burning steadily to give the illusion of an open flame.

    Safety

  1. Flameless candles are a safe alternative to real candlelight, especially if young children or pets live in the home.
  2. Decor

  3. People scatter these candles throughout their homes, placing them in their bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and bathrooms.
  4. Style

  5. Tapered, pillar, votive and tea-light candles are available. You can also buy them in unique styles, such as wall sconces or candles that float in fountains or water bowls.
  6. Features

  7. You can buy scented or unscented candles in a variety of colors and scents. They are also available with timers so that they "burn" for a limited time. Glade produces candles that act as air fresheners when they are lit.
  8. Usage

  9. These candles make great housewarming or shower gifts. They can double as a nightlight in a child's bedroom or in the bathroom. Flameless lights are great wedding decorations too.
  10. Clean

  11. The candles don't produce any smoke, soot or melted wax, making them a cleaner alternative to real candles.
