The most common application of essential oils for dogs is topical. The oils can quickly be absorbed through the skin and into the capillaries. They can be applied via massage or sprays and may also be added to shampoos and salves.
Use a diffuser to evaporates the oils so they can be inhaled by the dog. Leave the diffuser on for 30 to 40 minutes to insure that your dog has inhaled enough of the oils to reap the benefits. Do this twice a day for a week. Some oils may be given orally, but this should be done only after consulting with a holistic veterinarian. Essential oils are very potent and can be dangerous if swallowed.
