These tax preparers, such as Jackson Hewitt and H & R Block, will allow customers to request copies of his tax returns for the years the customer filed with the company. H & R Block allows customers to go online and print off copies of their previous tax returns. For those tax payers who prepare their own tax return, they would need to keep a copy of their tax return for their own record.

Anyone who has filed a tax return may obtain a copy from the IRS. The IRS will charge a fee of $57 to mail a copy of an individual's tax return. When schools choose a student for verification status, the student will need to provide a signed copy of his tax return to verify the information listed on his application for federal student aid. The school's financial aid office will keep a copy of the student or parent's taxes in the student's file. The student may pick up a copy of the tax return from the financial aid office.

Companies and businesses can obtain copies of a tax return for an individual for a small fee. The copy of the tax form may be mailed or instantly sent to the requestor via email. The businesses and companies can obtain any tax return filed with the IRS within the past 5 years. State and Local Government Agencies
