Best Blacksmithing Gear in WOW

Blacksmithing is a profession in the World of Warcraft online game, intended to represent the ability to forge items out of metal. At lower levels, it allows you to create things like shield spikes, steel weapon chains and weight stones to increase a weapon's damage. Higher levels grant you access to much more powerful recipes, while allowing you to specialize in armorsmithing or weaponsmithing to create unique and devastating pieces of equipment. You can sell the things you make in order to make money very easily, as well as using them yourself or passing them on to your friends and allies. Note that the best blacksmithing gear requires extremely high levels to create. A rank of 350 and above is typical for the most powerful items.

  1. Types

    • Many blacksmiths can create skeleton keys, which allow you to open doors without the use of the lock picking skill. Best among these is the titanium skeleton key, which requires a blacksmithing rank of at least 430 to make, along with four Saronite bars, one titanium bar and an anvil. With it, you can open any door that requires a lock picking skill of 400 or lower.

    • For a slightly lower blacksmithing rank (350), you can create the Sunblessed Breastplate, a piece of plate armor which grants 1983 armor, +40 Stamina, and +51 Intellect. In addition, it improves critical strike rating by 34, restores 14 mana points every 5 seconds and raises your spell power by 61. It takes a fair chunk of resources to create (20 Khorium bars, 4 Hardened Adamantite bars, 6 Primal Nether units, 15 Primal Life units and 15 Primal Water units), but the abilities it conveys--especially for Paladins who wear it--make the effort well worth it.

    Types

    • Wildguard gear--helm, leggings and breastplate--can be created by characters with blacksmithing ranked at 375 or above. Their armor capabilities are considerable, and while they do not boast any additional abilities beyond that, the increase in defense rating they provide makes all other considerations secondary. They each require eight Felsteel bars, 12 units of Primal Life, 12 units of Primal Nether and one unit of Primal Shadow to create, along with a blacksmith's anvil.

    Types

    • At a blacksmithing rank of 365, you can create Felsteel weapons such as a battle axe or a long blade. The sword inflicts 128 to 239 damage, as well as granting +26 agility and +15 stamina. The battle axe causes the same amount of damage and improves the wielder's hit and critical strike rating, though it doesn't grant any improved traits. Both weapons require 10 Khorium bars, 10 Felsteel bars, and two pieces of Primal Nether to create (along with the omnipresent anvil). The sword also requires six pieces of Primal Might, while the axe requires eight pieces of Primal Might.

    Types

    • At 375 Blacksmithing, you can create a Red Belt of Battle, granting you both a considerable boost in armor rating (904) and an increase to your offensive capabilities with improved hit and critical strike ratings. Strength and stamina are improved by wearing it as well. Forging a Red Belt of Battle requires 10 units of Primal Fire, two units of Nether Vortex and five Hardened Adamantite bars.
