The Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. produces an extensive line of construction equipment and mining equipment that includes several models of excavators. Consumers have access to the Hitachi EX30 excavator designed with a canopy or cabin. The cabin model features a cabin that completely encloses the operator while the canopy model features a canopy that rises from behind the operator and provides some overhead coverage.

Engine

Both the canopy model and the cabin model of this excavator have the same engines. Hitachi's EX30 is fitted with an Isuzu model 3KR2 engine. This Isuzu engine is a four-cycle, water-cooled engine that features three total cylinders. The piston displacement on this diesel engine is 86.7 cubic inches.
