Keep the bathroom smelling fresh with vinegar.

The bathroom is an area of the home that often collects and holds odors. Your bathroom may be clean, but if odors are present, it seems as though the bathroom is unsanitary and neglected. An air freshener is one option, but these items typically just mask the smell temporarily, not actually correcting the problem. Instead, use elements that absorb the odors and keep your bathroom smelling fresh and clean.

Step 1

Fill a spray bottle with vinegar, and spray into your toilet, sinks and shower area. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. The vinegar naturally collects odors and kills bacteria.

Step 2

Spray the floor with a coating of the vinegar, and wipe it off with a damp mop.

Step 3

Open all windows, and allow fresh air to circulate through the bathroom for several hours when possible.

Step 4

Place bowls of baking soda around the bathroom to consistently collect and absorb odors. Put about 1 cup of baking soda into each bowl.

Step 5

Pour 1 cup of lemon juice into a bowl, and sit it in the bathroom for a fresh citrus scent. Replace the bowl every few days, or as needed when the scent dissipates.
