Star Wars costumes are popular for people of all ages, sizes and genders. You can buy these costumes in stores and online, but they are usually expensive and not accurate. Making your own Star Wars costume can be rewarding and less expensive, since Star Wars costumes are simple to recreate.

Step 1

Wear an off-white long sleeved T-shirt, black pants and black boots for the base of this costume. To make the vest, cut off the sleeves off a black T-shirt. Cut the T-shirt open in the front and hem the raw edges.

Step 2

Tape an empty toilet paper roll perpendicular to the end of an empty paper towel roll and spray paint it black. This will be Han's gun.

Step 3

Glue various small boxes---crayon boxes and cigarette packs work well---to a black belt and spray paint the whole thing black.

Step 4

Wear a long white dress as the base of this costume. To make, Leia's silver belt, cut two strips of duct tape, each long enough to fit around your waist, plus 2 inches. Stick one on top of the other (sticky sides together) and wrap it around your waist. Secure the ends together with a smaller piece of duct tape.

Step 5

Cut eight pieces of duct tape, each 1 inch long. Fold each of them in half, sticky sides together, and attach them to a silver chain. Leave about 1/2 inch in between each square of duct tape. This forms the necklace.

Step 6

Braid your hair and wrap the braid into a bun at the crown of your head.

Step 7

Wear an off-white or light brown bathrobe as the base of this costume. Use costume paint to paint your face, neck and hands green.

Step 8

Find a fallen tree branch to use as the Yoda's staff.

Step 9

Using green construction paper, cut out two pieces in the shape of Yoda's ears (see image). Glue the wider end of each ear to a green headband. Pull apart several cotton balls and glue the material onto the inside of the front of the ears so that it looks like white ear hair.
