Back breakouts can be difficult to reach and to treat due to the location of the acne. Many people who are able to reach back acne usually treat it with harsh commercially milled soaps that can irritate and inflame the skin. In order to reach back acne and cleanse it deeply, yet gently, a strategy can be used to cleanse back breakouts with a pore-cleansing oil.
Use a Back Scratcher
Back breakouts can be hard to reach, but this can be remedied by utilizing a back scratcher when applying a cleansing oil. A back scratcher can act as an extension of your arm, enabling you to reach the breakouts easily. A soft cloth, such as a fine-weave washcloth, should be attached to the end of the back scratcher using a rubber band or an elastic hair tie. The oil can then be soaked into the cloth and spread onto the skin using gentle circular motions. Reapply the oil until a thick coat covers the skin.
Use a Non-Comedogenic Oil
It is important to use the correct oil when cleansing back acne using the oil-cleansing method. Only a non-comedogenic oil should be used, which can clear out the pores without clogging them. The most useful oils include olive oil, castor oil and jojoba oil. Olive oil cleans out the pores while deeply moisturizing the skin. Castor oil is a highly purgative oil, but can be slightly drying to the skin. Jojoba oil is a light oil that can clean the pores and absorb into the skin quickly. Once the oil of choice has been applied to the skin, it should remain there for at least five minutes to soak into the pores and bond with the impurities and bacteria.
Heating to Open Back Pores
Heat opens up the pores and help release trapped oils, impurities and acne-causing bacteria from the skin. Once a skin-clearing oil has soaked into the skin for at least five minutes, heat should be applied in order to flush out the back pores. Heat can be applied by soaking a large hand towel in steaming hot water, squeezing it out once it is cool enough to touch, laying the cloth on the back until it cools down, then wiping away the oil. Repeat this as many times as needed until all of the excess oil has been removed from the skin.
