Recipe Organizing Software

If you're like a lot of avid cooks, you probably have hundreds of recipes you have tried, written down, then lost in a recipe book somewhere never to be found. You may even have recipes handed down through the family that you must organize. There is a computer software program for almost everything these days and recipe organization has not been forgotten.

Recipe Center

  • Recipe Center is free software that allows you to save recipes. With the software you can upload photos of the completed dish and print the recipes for notebook collections. You can create recipes from the application, as well as import and export recipes from the Recipe Center website. Recipe Center also has a feature that adjusts the recipes for you according to how many people you are serving. Recipe Center is available for Windows.

Living Cook Book

  • Living Cook Book is a program that has some of the same features as Recipe Center, but adds a little more flavor. Living Cook Book has a meal planning feature that helps you plan meals throughout the month on a calendar, and can generate a grocery list according to the meals you have planned. Living Cook Book is available for Windows computers.

Mac Gourmet

  • If you have a Mac computer you can download the MacGourmet recipe software. MacGourmet has an iTunes-like interface that allows you to organize your recipes, share them and make categories such as main courses and appetizers. MacGourmet also has a section for wine notes. You can import web pages into the software and print cookbooks. MacGourmet is also available for the iPhone and iPod Touch for recipes on the go.
