If you plan to celebrate Oktoberfest in Munich, you can find better deals if you move beyond the city center. Munich has great public transportation. A commuter train runs until 1 a.m., and there are ample cabs available as well. The Marienplatz/Viktualienmarkt area offers hotels for a reasonable average rate for the season of about $200 per night. The Marriott Munich, in the Marienplatz area, is just a few train stops from the city center and the fairgrounds, the hub of Oktoberfest activity.

Millennium Hotel is one of the better hotels in the area, just outside of town but very close to the train station, with a rate of around $200.
