There are several efffective facial exercises that may stave off an expensive face lift. The muscles in your face need toning and exercise just like the muscles in your body.

It's All in the Eyes

  • To tone and tighten the area around your eyes, sit in a quiet, calm place and close your eyes. While your eyes remain closed, look as far down as possible. Then look up. Repeat this exercise 10 to 15 times. Alternate first looking up and then down.

    Now with your eyes still closed, raise your eyebrows causing your eyelids to pull downward as far as possible. Remember to keep your eyes shut tightly. You should feel an eyelid stretch. Repeat this exercise 10 times. Take a small break, and repeat 10 more times.

Facial Expression

  • Another way to stop facing aging is to be aware of the facial gymnastics that you may do that cause wrinkles. When you are angry or upset, you may raise your eyebrows in disgust. This creates lines and creases in your forehead. Instead, relax the tension in your face, and take a deep breath. If you furrow your eyebrows, release the tension between your brows and take a deep, cleansing breath. You also can release tension by massaging the lines in your forehead or between your brows to stretch them out.

Olympics for Your Cheeks

  • If you want young, supple cheeks, open and stretch your lips wide as wide as possible. Hold for as long as you can stand it. Then releae, and relax all the muscles. Repeat at least five times every morning. This exercise will tone your cheek muscles and help avoid folds on either side of the base of your nose.
