Have fun styling your hair during your teen years and experiment with wild, funky hairdos using styling mousse. Mousse, like hair gel, works well on either wet or dry hair, depending upon your look. Mousse is a lighter foaming style aid whereas gel is a thicker, clear liquid. Give your hair a natural look using styling mousse, hair dyer, curling iron, straightening iron and a brush.
Add more body and spring to your style with a dollop of styling mousse. Rock the same look as Miley Cyrus and Heidi Spencer using mousse, a pick, a large barreled curling iron and your hair dryer.
This style works well with medium to long layered haircuts. Wash your hair, and then add a handful of mouse to your wet hair. Dry your tresses using your hair dryer, then heat up the large barreled curling iron.
Create ringlet curls around your bottom layers with the curling iron. Tip your head upside down and rat the top of your head with your fingers. Flip back up and run a pick through your hair to tame the crown of your head and blend the curls.
Squirt a quarter-sized amount of mousse in your hand and scrunch your curls. Allow to dry then separate and blend using your fingers.
Sleek and Straight
Looking for an emo style? Use mousse to straighten your hair and achieve that emo attitude.
Apply a handful of mousse to your wet head. Brush the mousse through your hair thoroughly. Allow your hair to air dry or if use your hair dryer and brush through your hair as you dry.
Add a quarter-sized amount of mousse to your dry hair and allow the mousse to dry and set. Heat up your flat iron until it becomes scorching hot and drag and smooth it through your tresses. Add a small amount of mousse to each jagged end to accentuate the style.
Short and Spiky
Mousse does wonders for short layered haircuts like Twilight’s Ashley Greene, who wears a spiky bob. This heavily layered bob looks great smooth and sleek or teased and wild.
Get that wild look by applying a handful of mousse to your hair after it’s dry. Tip your head upside down and shake your hands through your hair to encourage the ends to fly upward. Shake your head then stand up. The ends of your hair should be curving upward and have a messy appearance.
Lightly spray the ends with hair spray and allow to dry. Use your fingers to blend the bob’s ends once your hair dries.
