Easy Ways for Kids to Earn Money

Save

Most kids are looking for ways to make some money, even from a very young age. There are easy ways that kids can earn a little extra cash, in addition to their normal chores. From young elementary school kids to older teens, there are money-making ideas to be had everywhere.

Household Chores

Many kids already have household chores that they take care of to contribute around the house, or that they get an allowance for. Step up their chores to allow them some extra cash from you as their parent. These can include indoor chores, such as laundry, vacuuming, washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, organizing closets, cleaning the garage and even making dinner. Kids can make extra money by doing outside jobs as well, such as washing the family car, mowing the lawn or raking the leaves. In the summer, have them help in the garden for extra cash by pulling weeds and picking the crops.

Tutoring

A high school or even middle school child who has excellent skills in a particular school subject can make money being a tutor. Not only is this profitable for them, it also encourages a helpful spirit and can really help the person receiving the assistance. A child can put an ad in her local newspaper, school paper or even up on the school bulletin board to attract someone who is in need of her help. Many parents are very willing to spend money to hire a tutor for their child.

Additionally, there are online tutoring sites that pay for people who have certain subject skills. This can be an excellent way for a kid to earn extra money on the side.

Online Auction Sites

With the Internet, a kid can easily sell items on online auction sites for extra cash. There are many websites that allow you to do so, and only take a small percentage of what you sell. Kids can go through their rooms and list all their old video games, toys and even clothes that they do not want anymore. For the determined child, and especially a teen who can drive, yard sales and thrift stores are excellent places to find great bargains and re-sell them online.

Babysitting

Babysitting is one of the oldest and most popular jobs for pre-teens and teenagers. When kids are old enough, they can take classes at a local school or college that can help them learn how to care for a newborn and older children. Many parents have younger children that their teenager can watch for money, and there is always someone who needs the services of a babysitter at their home. Have your teen put an ad in the local paper or up around town on billboards and she is almost guaranteed to get called for a job.
