A simple wedding checklist means knowing exactly what you need for your wedding and putting it together into a list form. Here you will discover exactly what it is you need to purchase---and those people that you will need to hire and the decisions you will need to make in order to have your wedding turn out the way you dreamed.
In the pre-planning stage, you will need to determine the type of wedding you want. This means working out a budget and an estimated guest list. (If your parents are helping to pay for the wedding then they are allotted a certain number of guests to invite to the wedding.) Once you have worked out the budget and the preliminary guest list, you can move on to the bigger decisions.
The Bigger Decisions
You'll most likely deal with vendors. You will need to choose a place for the ceremony and hire an officiant, unless one comes with the facility or church. You will need to choose a reception venue. You may also need to hire a caterer if the venue does not handle the catering. You will also need a photographer, videographer, florist, and bakery. And you'll need to choose between hiring a DJ or a band.
In addition to choosing vendors, you'll need to make decisions regarding your bridal party: a maid of honor, best man, perhaps bridesmaids, groomsmen, and a flower girl and ring bearer.
How everyone will look deserves its own section in the wedding planning checklist. You want to look perfect on your wedding day, but you also want everyone else to look good as well. The bride will need to shop for a wedding gown, lingerie for beneath the gown, shoes, jewelry, hair accessories, and a veil if she chooses to wear one. The groom has it a bit easier because he simply needs to buy or rent a suit or tuxedo---but he and the bride should choose the colors of the ties and vests or cummerbunds together.
The bride will need to choose the gowns that her members of the bridal party will wear. She may also have input as to what the men in the party will wear since they will need to rent suits as well. It is important to check with everyone to make sure that they have each ordered their outfits and will have the proper attire for your wedding day.
The Smaller Decisions
You will need to make some smaller decisions as well. This means choosing your wedding favors, linens, dance songs, and must-take photographs for the photographer. You will also need a guest book and pen as well as toasting glasses and cake knife and server. These smaller decisions should be easier to make than the larger decisions---and may be left to near the end of the wedding planning.
