Company Dinner Ideas

Save

When you have company over, say the in-laws or business partners, you want to serve a nice meal to them. You want your meal and table to be inviting and the food to taste good. After all, you want to make a great impression and please your guests.

Planning

  • Prepare company meals according to the visitor's tastes if possible. The worst faux pas in dinner parties is to have nothing the visitor likes to eat. If you are not sure, it is best to go with all around fare that most people like.

Show your guests you can cook by preparing baked chicken breasts rolled in butter and garlic flavored crushed potato chips. The crushed chips and butter make an amazing crust on the chicken. Serve twice-baked potatoes and crispy strips of carrot, lightly sauteed in butter. Serve blackberry pie prepared in individual teacups for an elegant touch. Your guests will appreciate the time you took to make individual dessert dishes.

Menus

  • A favorite dinner party dish is salmon. Serve grilled salmon with fresh grilled asparagus and small new potatoes. A dish of sorbet for dessert cleans the palette and leaves a fresh taste in the mouth that your guests will be thanking you.

For those guests that just have to have beef, prepare rib eye steaks grilled to each guests preference served with a garden salad and shrimp cocktail. Chocolate mousse cake with raspberry sauce completes the menu.

Other Ideas

  • Cook beef prime rib served with au jus and horseradish. Baked potato salad is a different type of potato salad and, served with julienne snow peas and carrots, is elegant. Prepare baked potatoes. Slice the baked potatoes very thin. Add chopped onion, garlic powder and black pepper to taste. Mix these ingredients together with sour cream instead of mayonnaise. Fresh strawberries and whipped cream is a favorite dessert among many.

Serve lobster slowly poached in butter for those intimate dinner parties. Prepare garlic cheese biscuits and serve the lobster with twice-baked potatoes and a shrimp salad. Serve chocolate covered strawberries as a dessert.

Decorations

  • Decorating the table for any dinner party includes nice flatware and china. Roll the flatware in a cloth napkin or create a rose with the napkin and place in the wineglass. Candles sitting in shallow bowls filled with small colored stones add ambient lighting and an added personal touch to the table. Use a nice tablecloth to protect the table and to create a more elegant look to the table.
